Give up Fear < Embrace the Love of God
Luke 15:20 The Passion Translation
20 “So the young son set off for home. From a long distance away, his father saw him coming, dressed as a beggar, and great compassion swelled up in his heart for his son who was returning home. So, the father raced out to meet him. He swept him up in his arms, hugged him dearly, and kissed him over and over with tender love.
Devotional
The love the Father had for his son had him ready everyday waiting for his son to return. And when he did, the son was met with a kiss!
What would have embarrassed any other senior man of the day, lifting his robes to run, the Father does unhindered. It is with a joyous and overwhelming display of affection that the son was welcomed home.
The son was ready with a speech, to plea with his Father to include him as one of the servants. But I pray you get this today, the son was not accepted on his behaviour; the son was accepted because he was a SON.
God’s love for us is like this. We aren’t accepted because of good or bad behaviour, we are accepted because we are His children. Unconditional love, that’s what this whole story is about. It’s a done deal!
It doesn’t matter how far down you’ve gone in the figurative pig pen… the Fathers love for us does not change.
Reflection
As you receive communion each day this week think about the love of God towards you as His son or daughter in Christ
Practice
Each day this week ask God to help you communicate His great love to someone in your world who doesn’t know God yet in a tangible way!
