By God’s grace, we pray that HopeUC will always be a body, a church, a family and a home that is defined by God’s presence. Worshipful, missional, prayerful, generational, creative, generous, thankful, authentic and completely passionate about people responding to the message of salvation. We pray that we will always reflect through every part of our lives, that HOPE is a person, and His name is Jesus.

HopeUC is a church where everyone’s welcome. There is a place for you here. When we come together, we are a diverse, beautiful expression of God’s church, gathering around His love, His presence, His word, and His purpose for our lives. Together, we are on a great faith adventure.

OUR VALUES

The Word is our Foundation

2 Timothy 3:16

God has transmitted his very substance into every Scripture, for it is God-breathed. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness.

Worship is our Honour

Psalm 29:2

Honor the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

Active participation and patterns of worship, explain and express our faithfulness.

Prayer is our Priority

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

We pray first. The power of prayer deepens our dependence on Him and sharpens our faith. When we pray, we place everything in God’s hands, trusting His guidance in every aspect of our lives.

Community is our Heartbeat

Reach In: Community of Faith
Reach Out: Mission to people outside of us.
Reach Down: Generational empowerment is our legacy.
Reach Up: Follow a Leader.

Luke 4:18-19

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and he has anointed me to be hope for the poor, healing for the broken-hearted, and new eyes for the blind, and to preach to prisoners, ‘You are set free!’ I have come to share the message of Jubilee, for the time of God’s great acceptance has begun.

His Presence is our Passion

Ephesians 1:23

The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ’s body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence.

Alignment with God’s authority and structures allows His power and gifts to flow.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Adapted from ACC.org.au website

WE BELIEVE that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives.

WE BELIEVE in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

WE BELIEVE that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.

WE BELIEVE that in order to receive forgiveness and the ‘new birth’ we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.

WE BELIEVE that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised in water and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues, which is an initial evidence of baptism in the Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, to fulfil our role in the Church and to serve the community in which we live.

WE BELIEVE that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and prosperous lives in order to help others more effectively. We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE that human beings are created male or female in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27) with a need for companionship and intimacy, reflecting the relational nature of God. Australian Christian Churches (ACC) defines marriage as being the union between a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others voluntarily entered into for life. This need for companionship (Genesis 2:18) can be satisfied in the loving relationship of marriage (Genesis 2:18-25) or through a life devoted to the Lord through singleness.

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.
